Healthy skin starts with a strong foundation.
My approach to skin treatments centres on improving your skin's health, strength, and function—not simply treating what we see on the surface. A healthy skin barrier plays an essential role in protecting the skin, maintaining hydration, and supporting its natural repair processes. When the barrier functions well, the skin is generally calmer, more resilient, and better able to retain moisture, giving it a naturally healthier, smoother, and more radiant appearance.
Rather than chasing quick fixes, I focus on building the right foundations for strong, balanced, and glowing skin. I select treatments tailored to your skin type, concerns, and goals, emphasising barrier support, hydration, cellular renewal, and overall skin quality. Good skin health is also an important part of preparing for and recovering from more advanced procedures. Improving skin condition and resilience can support treatments such as microneedling, electrolysis hair removal, electrolysis skin blemish treatments, and other aesthetic procedures, where the skin's natural healing response is integral to the treatment process and results.
Your skin will naturally change with age, hormones, lifestyle, environment and health, so your treatment plan may need to change too. Where appropriate, I may combine professional skin treatments with Dermalux LED Phototherapy and personalised homecare advice to help maintain your results between appointments.
For me, beautiful skin isn't about perfection. It's about creating healthy, resilient skin that functions well and looks naturally radiant — providing the best possible foundation for your chosen treatment journey.
Skin Treatments
Personalised Skin Treatment
No two skins are the same, so I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all facial. My Personalised Skin Treatment is tailored to your skin, taking into account its current condition, sensitivity, barrier health, and your goals.

Rather than following a fixed facial protocol, I select the most appropriate treatments and products for your skin on the day. The focus is on building a healthy foundation: supporting the skin barrier, improving hydration and overall skin function, and addressing concerns such as dryness, congestion, sensitivity, redness, dullness, uneven texture and visible signs of ageing. Depending on your skin and treatment plan, your appointment may include professional skincare, exfoliation, hydration, steam and barrier-supporting treatments, alongside technologies such as Dermalux LED Phototherapy where appropriate. You can enjoy these treatments on their own or as part of an ongoing skin programme to prepare and support your skin before and after treatments such as microneedling, electrolysis and aesthetic procedures.
The aim is simple: healthier, stronger, more resilient skin with a natural glow.
Acne and Blemish Skin Treatment
A personalised treatment for acne-prone, congested and blemish-prone skin, with a focus on improving skin health rather than simply drying out or stripping away breakouts. Acne can be complex, so I take an individual approach, considering your current skin condition, sensitivity, skin barrier health and the types of breakouts or congestion you are experiencing. I then carefully adapt your treatment to your skin’s needs at the time.

Where appropriate, I incorporate salicylic and/or glycolic acids to provide gentle, controlled exfoliation. This helps me address congestion and surface build-up while minimising unnecessary manipulation of inflamed or sensitive skin. Treatment may also include gentle cleansing, steam, hydration and carefully selected products to support and strengthen the skin barrier. The treatment incorporates a 20-minute Dermalux LED Phototherapy protocol, using appropriate wavelengths to help reduce inflammation, support the skin's natural repair processes and improve the appearance of acne-prone skin.
My approach is not to aggressively treat or over-exfoliate acne-prone skin, but to work progressively towards calmer, healthier, and more resilient skin. For the best results, this treatment may be recommended as part of a personalised skin programme, alongside suitable home skincare.
NeoStrata Advanced Glycolic Skin Peel
A professional skin-resurfacing treatment using NeoStrata glycolic acid peels at concentrations of 20–35%, carefully selected to suit your skin, tolerance and individual treatment goals. Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that provides controlled exfoliation by loosening and removing accumulated surface skin cells. This less invasive approach to exfoliation can help improve dullness, uneven texture, congestion, superficial pigmentation and the visible signs of ageing, revealing smoother, brighter, more refined-looking skin.

I believe in a progressive approach to skin peeling. A stronger peel does not necessarily lead to better results. I select the concentration and application time based on your skin's condition, previous treatments and response, gradually progressing the treatment where appropriate while maintaining the health and integrity of the skin barrier. After the peel, I support the skin with appropriate post-treatment skincare. Dermalux LED Phototherapy can also be incorporated into the treatment protocol to help calm the skin, reduce visible redness, and support the skin's natural recovery processes. NeoStrata Advanced Glycolic Skin Peels can be enjoyed individually or, for more progressive results, as part of a personalised course of treatments.

Dermalux LED Phototherapy for Skin Health
Dermalux LED Phototherapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that uses clinically recognised wavelengths of light to support healthier, more resilient skin. Different wavelengths are absorbed by the skin, supporting cellular repair, reducing inflammation and encouraging the skin’s natural healing processes. At Parkside Electrolysis & Aesthetics, I recommend Dermalux for sensitive, reactive, inflamed or compromised skin, or for skin prone to breakouts. It is ideal as a stand-alone rejuvenation treatment or as part of a personalised skin programme to improve overall skin health and support a stronger, healthier skin barrier. In clinic, I use the Dermalux Compact Lite, a professional LED phototherapy system designed for clinical use. Unlike small handheld LED devices or home-use face masks, the Compact Lite provides professional coverage across the treatment area, allowing me to select the appropriate wavelength or combination tailored to your skin and treatment goals.
I use Dermalux as part of our wider approach to skin health, whether we are supporting sensitive or inflammatory skin, addressing acne and breakouts, skin rejuvenation and ageing concerns, uneven pigmentation, or recovery after treatments such as electrolysis and microneedling. I personalise treatment to your skin rather than following a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Rosacea, Redness & Reactive Skin
Red and near-infrared light can help calm reactive skin, support the skin barrier, and reduce the appearance of redness and inflammation. Its gentle, non-invasive nature makes Dermalux particularly useful for sensitive skin that may not tolerate more intensive treatments.
Acne & Breakouts
Blue light helps target Cutibacterium acnes, the bacterium linked to inflammatory acne, while red and near-infrared light can help reduce inflammation and support skin repair. A combination of wavelengths can therefore address both active breakouts and skin recovery.
Eczema, Dry & Sensitive Skin
For suitable clients, red and near-infrared LED can help support dry, sensitive and compromised skin by calming inflammation and encouraging the skin’s natural repair processes. Treatment is always tailored to the individual and the skin's condition at the time.
Psoriasis
Red and near-infrared phototherapy may help reduce inflammation and support the skin’s natural repair processes. As psoriasis is a medical skin condition, Dermalux is used as a supportive treatment and should not replace medical advice or prescribed treatment.
Impaired Skin Barrier
A healthy skin barrier is fundamental to good skin health. When the barrier is compromised, the skin may feel dry, tight, sensitive or irritated, and it can become more reactive to products and environmental factors. Dermalux red and near-infrared light can be incorporated into a skin programme to support repair, calm irritation and help create an environment in which the skin can recover.
Inflammation & Post-Inflammatory Redness
Inflammation is part of the skin’s natural healing response, but excessive or prolonged inflammation can leave the skin uncomfortable and persistently red. LED phototherapy can help modulate rather than completely suppress this response, supporting the skin as it moves through its natural healing and repair process.
Skin rejuvenation and ageing
As we age, cellular activity naturally slows, and the production of key structural proteins, such as collagen and elastin, declines. This can contribute to fine lines, loss of firmness, reduced elasticity, dryness and a less vibrant complexion.
Dermalux red and near-infrared LED phototherapy uses specific wavelengths of light absorbed by skin cells, helping support cellular energy and natural repair processes. This can encourage fibroblast activity and support the production of collagen and elastin, important components for maintaining the skin’s strength, firmness and elasticity. Regular treatments can improve the overall quality and appearance of the skin, supporting a smoother texture, improved firmness, hydration, and a healthier, more radiant complexion.
Rather than trying to dramatically change the skin, I use Dermalux as part of my approach to supporting healthy skin function and healthy ageing. You can use it as a stand-alone treatment or alongside other skin treatments to complement and enhance their results.
Pigmentation & Uneven Skin Tone
Pigmentation is complex and can arise for many reasons, including sun exposure, hormonal influences, ageing, inflammation and previous skin trauma. For this reason, it's important to understand what's contributing to pigmentation before choosing the most appropriate treatment.
Dermalux does not simply remove pigmentation. Instead, red and near-infrared LED phototherapy can support the skin’s natural repair processes, improve cellular function, and reduce inflammation, creating a healthier environment for the skin to recover. This can be particularly beneficial for uneven pigmentation that develops after inflammation or skin trauma, known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). By reducing ongoing inflammation and supporting a healthier skin barrier, Dermalux may contribute to a calmer, brighter, and more even-looking complexion over time.
For pigmentation associated with sun damage or ageing, I may incorporate Dermalux into a broader, personalised skin programme alongside suitable skincare and other treatments.
A Gentle Approach to Better Skin Health
I incorporate Dermalux into my treatments for its versatility. It is non-invasive and comfortable, with no downtime, making it suitable for a wide range of skin types and concerns. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, I select the wavelength or combination of wavelengths based on your skin, its current condition, and our treatment goals. It is ideal as a stand-alone treatment or as part of an ongoing skin health programme. I include skin analysis, cleansing, a skin peel, and aftercare products.
My focus is always on strengthening the foundations of good skin health - supporting the skin barrier, reducing unnecessary inflammation, and helping the skin function and repair as effectively as possible.

Dermaplaning & Dermalux
A gentle yet effective skin treatment that combines dermaplaning with Dermalux LED phototherapy to reveal a smoother, brighter and more radiant complexion. Dermaplaning gently removes superficial dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz), improving skin texture and leaving a beautifully smooth, luminous complexion.
The treatment concludes with Dermalux LED phototherapy to calm the skin, support its natural recovery, and promote overall skin health. Ideal for dull, dry, or uneven skin, it leaves the complexion refreshed, soft, and revitalised. A beautifully relaxing skin treatment that combines gentle dermaplaning exfoliation with Dermalux LED phototherapy, facial massage, and a nourishing mask.

Fine facial hairs can trap surface debris and make the skin look dull. By carefully removing these hairs and the build-up of dead skin cells, dermaplaning leaves the skin beautifully soft and smooth, creating an ideal canvas for make-up.
I particularly love this treatment before a special occasion, whether it's a wedding, party, or important event, because it usually involves little to no downtime. It's equally lovely as a skin treatment at any time. You’ll leave feeling refreshed and pampered.
